Development East of Shaw Lane
As reported in a previous article, Jessup’s two Planning Applications were opposed by the Albrighton Development Action Group (a spin off from the Civic Society), the Parish Council and many residents. They were both refused and not only that they were refused by the vote of every member of the Shropshire Council South Planning Committee.
On 8th May Jessup launched his Appeal to his first Application No. 17/03774/FUL which included the enormous Extra Care Apartments Building. The Appeal will be determined by written representations and not by a hearing.
The Action Group met on 13th May to make plans to oppose the Appeal.

Deadline for representations to the Appeal must be made by 11th June 2019.

As well as the Action Group making representations it would be helpful if as many residents as possible also sent in their objections to either

As already explained in a previous article, we are not objecting to houses and bungalows on this site BUT we do object to:-

1. Making the traffic access from/to Shaw Lane – exacerbates the already unsafe situation for school children and patients to the surgery. (Simple Solution: make the access via Kingswood Rd to the south)

 

1. Connecting the drainage to the sewer in Shaw Lane which will send more water in the direction of the north part of the village where we already suffer from flooding. (Simple Solution: connect to the sewer in Kingswood Rd to the south.

1. Over-development of the site, especially by the 3 storey Care Building which is longer than a football pitch

 

1. The Medical Practice has said “Jessup’s Extra Care Home will seriously overload the medical practice to the detriment of current patients.”

1. Lack of enough parking provision for the users of the Railway Station.

 

Please send in your comments/representations now – it is no use complaining after the event if the Appeal is successful. If many residents send in their comments we believe the Appeal can be defeated.
